Using BibTeX with Scientific WorkPlace

Note: It appears you cannot mix manual and BibTeX citations.
  1. Launch BibTeX: [Start] [Programs] [Scientific WorkPlace] [BibDB].
    Use => and <= to move around.
    Use [Add]. Click [Field] then [Author]. When done adding entry: [Finish].
    (Or use [Edit] [Copy Entry] and [Edit] [Paste [Entry].)

    Note: You may find it quicker to edit your database using Notepad.

  2. Go into your main document.
  3. [Typeset] [Bibiography Choice] BibTeX.
  4. [Typeset] [Expert Settings] [General Typesetting Options]
    BibTeX database directory: c:\thesis (for example)
    BibTeX style directory: (leave as is)

  5. Go to each chapter file.
  6. [Typeset] [Bibiography Choice] BibTeX.
  7. Insert a Citation.

  8. Go into your main document.
  9. [Insert] [Field] [Bibliography...].
    Choose a style, e.g. "unsrt".

  10. [Typeset] [Compile]. Check the box to "Generate a Bibliography".
  11. [Typeset] [Preview].
