Text Box: During each academic year , the CSSV Center provides education / research training for ECSU faculty in the School of Mathematics, Science and Technology. Moreover, several faculty use the Center’s facilities to assist them in teaching upper division (junior/seniors) courses and in the implementation of research activities. In addition, during the spring of each year, a special two-day education / research training session is held for ECSU and non-ECSU faculty (NAM institutions’ faculty). During this education / research training session faculty members are trained, by the use of tutorials, in workshops in the following categories: Data Entry / Data Manipulation/Image Manipulation Web Page Development Computational Science: Tools and Techniques Visualization: Graphic Displays Computer Programming Languages Unix—02 Database Software Development Specialty Workshops Current 2007-2008 emphasis is on Specialty Workshops - Upon Request The agenda of a typical CSSV two and one-half hour workshop: A. Overview of the Workshop 5 Min. 1. Workshop Objectives 2. Outline of Workshop Activities 3. Workshop mini project 4. Other Useful Information B. Electronic Presentation with Illustrations; Using Powerpoint 10 Min. 1. A General Overview with Specific Details/Instructions 2. A Presentation of All Major Items in the Outline of the Tutorial 3. Computer illustrations of Tutorial(s) Salient Features C. A Series of Workshop Activities That Will Help Participants Master the Workshop’s Objectives (Hard Copy/Computer Items) [1 hr.] 2 hrs.
