At present (since 1994), Dr. John (Jack) W. Alexander is President of the National Association of Mathematicians (NAM).  ECSU's CSSV Center

Professional Activities: State Department Mathematics Consulting Director to the West African Regional Mathematics Program (1970-77); Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Co., Corporate Actuarial Department (1978-81); Futures Group Think Tank, Glastonbury, Connecticut, Chief Statistician (1981-82); Wentworth Institute of Technology, Associate Professor (1982), Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences (1984-90); University of the District of Columbia (1990-97), Chair, Mathematics Department (1992-95); National Academy of Sciences, Staff Officer and Research Mathematician for the Board on Mathematical Sciences (1995-96), Director of the Board (1996-7); 1998 - 2002 Spelman College Chair and Professor of Mathematics.
